This Saturday my wife and I are involved with an outreach to a local apartment complex in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The main point of this outreach is to give away much needed school supplies to the families with kids who are starting school in just a few weeks.
A local church, just down the street from the apartment complex, committed to donating 50 backpacks full of school supplies to the event. Unfortunately, this church was not able to fulfill their commitment and now, 3 days before the event is supposed to happen, we have ZERO bags of school supplies.
My family and I are committed to supply as many bags of school supplies as we are able, and I know that our church will do the same, but I know that is not going to be enough.
That’s where you come in…
WE, I say WE because I KNOW you’re going to want to help, need to raise $500-$1000 outside of what we (my family) are giving, in the next day or two.
Can you help? Can you give something? Maybe your church or small group or bible study can give $50, $75 or $100 dollars?
The other day I bought a coffee at Starbucks and it cost me $4.42 FOR ONE CUP OF COFFEE! If everyone who followed on Twitter gave ONE COFFEE we would have more than enough to fill this need!
My church is going to help collect online, Here’s how you can give…
Go to http://giving.shadygrove.org and give online. Make sure that in the MEMO field you put “WithoutLove School Supplies” or something like that. Also, if you do give, shoot me a reply or DM on Twitter, Comment on this post, email me.. contact me in some way so that I know to look for your gift.
I can send giving receipts to anyone who needs them and I can let you know where every penny in going so you know it ALL went to these School supplies.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and get involved… I really do appreciate it… and don’t forget to pass this along to ANYONE and EVERYONE you know that you think can help.
PS. Let me apologize ahead of time for the Twitter Bomb that I’m about to unleash for the next 24 hours… GONNA RAISE THIS MONEY!!!
Be generous.
Last week a man walked into a Starbucks in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ordered his coffee and then paid for it and the strangers coffee behind him. This one act started a chain reaction of generosity that concluded with 185 people buying coffee for the stranger behind them.
For one afternoon in a Starbucks in Tulsa Oklahoma the reality of 185 people changed. 185 people began considering the stranger standing behind them before they considered themselves.
1 stranger, with 1 cup of coffee, changed the world for 185 people, for 1 afternoon.
Be generous. Not just to the people you know, but to everyone you come in contact with. You never know what you may start.
